Inspiration, Technique and Themes: Danish Art at the Glyptotek
A guided tour of the Glyptotek’s collection of Danish art

Join a guided tour of the Glyptotek’s collection of Danish art from the period 1780–1930.
The 19th century was a pivotal era for Danish art, and this is clearly reflected in the museum’s works. During the tour, we’ll explore what inspired artists of the time to develop new methods and themes: from a fascination with Greco-Roman antiquity and Nordic mythology to efforts to shape a new national identity. Through sketches, studies, and a growing circle of patrons, the artists created personal and era-defining expressions that reach far beyond the canvas and into the cultural currents of their time.
