Classical Summer Concert: The Arild Quartet: The Bird & Rosamunde
Sunday 21 September 12.00-1.00 pm

Once again, the Classical Summer Concerts are delighted to present a range of world-class musicians, performing amongst the Roman gods and heroes in the Glyptotek’s atmospheric Central Hall.
Experience the Arild Quartet, consisting of four prominent Danish musicians who came together more than 15 years ago to explore the very special thing of playing string quartets. Since then, they have been among the leading ensembles on the Danish chamber music scene and have garnered many accolades for their noble and mature playing style.
The four musicians take us on a chamber music journey through time. In works by Haydn, Schubert and Webern, they show how the string quartet genre has developed over more than 100 years; from Joseph Haydn's chirping, cheerful play with notes in the late 18th century to Franz Schubert's almost otherworldly touching music – written when he was 27 and had only four years left to live – and to Anton Webern's swelling and expressive late romanticism in the early 20th century.
