Performance by Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen - The Mitochondrial Eve
Thursday 4 September at 7-9 pm

Experience renowned performance artist Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen in a poetic and sensory interpretation of motherhood at the Golden Days Festival, themed around love.
Dressed in a sculptural costume that visually interacts with Glyptoteket’s iconic statue The Water Mother by Kai Nielsen, Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen moves through the halls of Glyptoteket. She engages with the sculptures and architecture, blending body, voice, and music into a living reflection on the universal significance of motherhood.
In her performance, Cuenca Rasmussen explores the maternal role—its origins, symbolic and physical meaning—along with the love that connects humans and animals alike. She examines the many facets of motherhood, shedding light on themes such as parenting, choices, fertility, conscience, and sacrifice.
The performance is presented in collaboration with the Danish-Norwegian Cooperation Fund and the Vigeland Museum in Oslo, where it has previously been staged.
