The Romans wore colourful clothing and an abundance of accessories, as seen in the special exhibition Power and Fashion in the Roman Empire. In the workshop, we will open the door to the past through our imagination and experiment with Roman dress and appearance.
We will work with photographs of the sculptures, colour pencils and transparent paper. By placing the paper over the images, you can trace measurements for clothing and accessories. You can take a historical approach and try to recreate items as they may have looked in Roman times or simply let your imagination run free.
Togas, jewellery, hats, sunglasses, new feet, new heads and much more are all welcome. Once your designs are finished, you can cut them out and attach them to the paper sculptures.
Everything will be brought together in an exhibition on large magnetic display boards. You can leave your designs on display to inspire others or take them home to put on the fridge.
