The Glyptotek has now found the ideal candidate for the position as Head of Interpretation and Exhibitions. Dr. Filiz Çakır Phillip has been appointed to the position and will start on August 1st.

By hiring Dr. Filiz Çakır Phillip, the Glyptotek welcomes a leading expert with extensive experience from some of the world’s most renowned cultural institutions, including the Pergamon Museum in Berlin and the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto.

Dr. Çakır Phillip holds a PhD in Art History from Freie Universität Berlin and brings a wide range of experience with high level academic knowledge and leadership. Her professional background is centred around exhibition organisation, digital communication, education, and strategic management. Her work encompasses both classical and Islamic art, and she is recognised for her ability to forge meaningful connections between the past and present, as well as between the museum and the local community.

“With Filiz Çakır Phillip, the Glyptotek not only gains an experienced leader who will strengthen the Glyptotek’s professional profile and assist in taking an important step towards shaping the museum of the future - with the audience, perspective and international format at its core. We are also gaining a visionary voice that can contribute relevant expertise essential to the development of the Glyptotek, supporting the museum’s international profile and collection areas, which range from ancient art from Syria and Türkiye in the east across the Mediterranean to contemporary art from France and Denmark. We want to forge stronger links between Copenhagen and the world, and it is valuable to have a head of this department who also has a large international network,” says Gertrud Hvidberg-Hansen, Director of the Glyptotek.
