French Art 1870-1925

On this guided tour, we take a close look at brushstrokes and color choices, as well as the complex stories and tensions hidden behind the artworks.
At the end of the 19th century, a whirlwind of artistic movements flourished. Artists like Berthe Morisot, Vincent van Gogh, and Paul Gauguin challenged the norms of their time and presented new expressions in art. The Glyptotek is showcasing a selection of works from its own collection in the exhibition French Art 1870-1925. On this guided tour, we explore new ways of experiencing and understanding the artworks through contemporary perspectives on past artists and a curiosity about the various movements of the period.
