Magical Beaded Nets
Mysterious things are happening at the Glyptotek. In the Winter Garden, large plastic nets hang from above, and in the Central Hall, plastic palm trees are growing.
It’s the artist Alia Farid at work, and inspired by her pieces, we invite everyone to create magical and colorful beaded nets during the Easter holiday. The ancient Egyptians made magical beaded nets from faience to protect their deceased.
Our beads are made of plastic, but that doesn’t make them any less magical. Learn the techniques to craft a protective net and dive into the wondrous story of how plastic beads were once living plants and animals.
