Classical Summer Concert: The Eskar Trio, Anna Agafia & Ettore Causa: Beethoven and Exuberant Schumann
Sunday 14 September 12.00-1.00 pm

Once again, the Classical Summer Concerts are delighted to present a range of world-class musicians, performing amongst the Roman gods and heroes in the Glyptotek’s atmospheric Central Hall.
The Eskar Trio has played together for over 30 years and is cherishedin both Denmark and abroad.
For this concert, they bring two guests: the Italian violist Ettore Causa, who is a professor at Yale University of Music, and the Danish, award-winning violin talent, Anna Agafia.
Beethoven wrote his second piano trio in E flat major in the summer of 1808. It is difficult to hear from the intimate and exuberantly well-arranged music that the composer was deeply concerned about his future as a deaf person at that time.
Robert Schumann's Piano Quintet was premiered at a private concert on December 6, 1842. His wife Clara Schumann was originally supposed to play the piano part, but she fell ill at the last minute. Now all bets were off, but fortunately Felix Mendelssohn stepped in and played the demanding part in the concert sight-reading. Try it yourself!
