Classical Summer Concert: Soloists from Orchestras: Nielsen & Brilliant Beethoven
Sunday 24 August 12.00-1.00 pm

Once again, the Classical Summer Concerts are delighted to present a range of world-class musicians, performing amongst the Roman gods and heroes in the Glyptotek’s atmospheric Central Hall.
Seven extraordinary musicians, who are soloists and concertmasters in symphony orchestras in Denmark and abroad, have come together to perform two central works that mix strings and winds in unconventional ways.
Carl Nielsen's humorous "futile" serenade, written in less than a week at the request of colleagues in The Royal Danish Orchestra, and Beethoven's exuberantly elegant septet, written by a young man of 30 years old who still had his hearing intact and was ready to conquer the world. The septet became one of Beethoven's most popular works already in his own lifetime, not least because of the eminently well-arranged and colorful dialogue between the instruments that run through all six movements.
