Classical Summer Concert: Concerto Copenhagen: Fandango!
Sunday 7 September 12.00-1.00 pm

Once again, the Classical Summer Concerts are delighted to present a range of world-class musicians, performing amongst the Roman gods and heroes in the Glyptotek’s atmospheric Central Hall.
Experience Concerto Copenhagen – one of Europe's leading ensembles for early music – as they take us to Southern Europe around the year 1800 with the fiery fandango dance.
Italian Luigi Boccherini settled in Spain in 1768, and this is clearly heard in his music; not least in his quintets for Spanish guitar and strings.
Gioachino Rossini lived at home in Italy when he, at the age of just 12, wrote six sonatas for two violins, cello and double bass.
Spanish Antonio Soler was both a composer and a monk but still managed to write volumes of music at the monastery in Spain where he lived almost his entire adult life. We don't know for sure whether he wrote the fandango he is often credited with – but the music is certainly not wrong!
